Asylum and temporary protection

This list includes contacts of Foreign Police departments where you can, among other things, file an application for temporary protection. You can file an application for asylum only at the Foreign Police department in Humenné (see contacts in the list below).

Making a booking

If you need to visit a Foreign Police department, make a booking in advance through the electronic booking system. You can choose a place and time of your meeting.

The electronic booking system allows you to register the following applications:

In the following cases, you can make a booking at any Foreign Police department in Slovakia:

  • filing an application for granting of temporary residence
  • filing an application for granting of permanent residence for 5 years
  • filing an application for granting of tolerated residence
  • filing an application for granting of a national visa

In the following cases, you can make a booking at the Foreign Police department only in your place of residence:

  • granting of temporary residence
  • renewal of temporary residence
  • registration of the right of an EU citizen
  • registration of the right to residence for a family member of an EU citizen
  • registration of the right to permanent residence for a family member of an EU citizen
  • granting of permanent residence for 5 years
  • granting of permanent residence for an unlimited period
  • granting of long-term residence
  • granting of tolerated residence
  • verification of an invitation
  • acts related to the issuance of residence documents/travel documents of a foreigner
  • granting of a national visa
  • extension of a Schengen visa
  • alternative authenticator

You can only perform other acts (e.g. collecting documents, adding documents to an application) that are not listed in the reservation system in person at a Foreign Police department during opening hours from 15.00 to 15.30.

How does it work?

Mark the range of topics and the situation you need to address in the booking system.

Select a Foreign Police department and a date for your appointment.

After submitting the booking you will be given a PIN code. Keep the PIN code, you will need it for your appointment.

A message confirming the booking will be sent to your e-mail address. If you cannot attend the appointment, you can find the procedure for cancelling the booking in the message.

Visit the Foreign Police department in person at the place and time you booked. When entering, enter the PIN code in the touch terminal and follow the instructions on the screen to print a ticket with a serial number.

I have difficulty making a booking

In case of any problems with the booking, contact the Call Centre of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic.

  • making an appointment if you want to visit a Foreign Police department,
  • registration of temporary protection,
  • verification of the validity of temporary protection.

The following opening hours are valid for all Foreign Police departments, unless stated otherwise at the specific department.

– Applications for temporary refuge.

– Applications for national visas.
– Applications for issuance of a residence permit for international truck and bus drivers the validity of which is extended due to the crisis situation caused by COVID-19 or the war in Ukraine.
