Support groups

At support group meetings, we create a community of parents in which members share their experiences and help each other deal with life situations.

Support groups are open or closed. Each parent has some space for their questions. Parents or a counsellor suggest topics they are interested in. If necessary, professionals are invited. If it is important for the group, we also include relaxation activities in the program.

The place and time of a group meeting is to be agreed with a regional coordinator.

Individual lay counselling

Lay counsellors are there for parents of children with disabilities. They themselves are parents of children with disabilities, so they can provide advice and help based on their own experience.

Lay counsellors follow a code of ethics. They completed 120 hours of training with professionals to be able to provide qualified and safe advice. If necessary, a lay adviser will refer you to professionals.

The place and time of a meeting is to be agreed with a lay counsellor.
